St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic Receives Donation from The Leon Levine Foundation

St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic has received $40,000 in funding from The Leon Levine Foundation to help the Clinic continue to provide quality medical care to Spartanburg County's uninsured.

“Access to care is a barrier for individuals who lack health insurance coverage. This generous grant from The Leon Levine Foundation will enable us to continue serving those who have no other options for medical care, thus preventing unnecessary emergency room visits and hospitalizations. We are beyond grateful that the Foundation has chosen to put its trust in us”, said Patsy Whitney, Executive Director.

St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic is a 501 (c)(3) organization that provides health care to low-income, uninsured individuals through various healthcare services, including primary care, specialized care, mental health counseling, an on-site pharmacy, and health education. Job losses due to the COVID-19 crisis have left many without health insurance coverage. New patient requests at St. Luke's are on the rise, and funding from The Leon Levine Foundation has made it possible for the Clinic to meet the community’s needs head-on throughout the ongoing pandemic.

The Leon Levine Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process.

“By serving patients with some of the greatest needs, St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic is a valuable asset to the community and a crucial component of the safety net for Spartanburg County,” explained Tom Lawrence, president of The Leon Levine Foundation. “The clinic is improving health outcomes for its patients, and we are pleased to be a partner in supporting the work at this critical time.”
