VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic would cease to exist if our volunteers didn’t make it happen. With close to 1500 patients served at our clinic in 2010, and one in five Spartanburg County residents lacking health insurance, the demands on our resources are at an all-time high. We continue to see more patients, fill more prescriptions, and provide more services year after year.

St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic welcomes those willing to volunteer time and talent to our clinic. We have many areas of expertise comprising our team of volunteers.

  • Clerical support
  • Computer/IT professionals and hobbyists
  • Data entry volunteers
  • Food providers (for 20-25 volunteers and staff on clinic nights)
  • Medical Residents
  • Medicine stock/inventory
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Nurses
  • Pastoral care
  • Pharmacists
  • Pharmacy technicians
  • Physicians
  • Pre-medical/nursing students from area colleges
  • Occasional special projects

Please call Shy Garner, Executive Assistant at 864-542-2273 ext. 24 if you are interested in volunteering.  Potential volunteers will be contacted to discuss current opportunities, as well as, a time scheduled to come meet staff members and/or volunteers at the clinic. Volunteer orientations are held every Tuesday at 10:00 and Thursdays at Noon.

If you are a physician interested in volunteering, please call Executive Director Patsy Whitney at 542-2273 ext. 26.

IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING, PLEASE FILL OUT AND RETURN THE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION TO ST. LUKE'S. Please note, there is an $8 fee for background checks.
